The lessons of time and great teachers serve people for their entire careers. The people of Leigh Automotive have had the years since 1952 to learn the lessons of time and the wisdom and teaching of Robert Leigh to use those lessons to become the vibrant automobile dealership we are today.
Robert Leigh (1919-1993) was an automobile manufacturer's executive who thought the retail business better suited him and in 1952 bought a domestic dealership located in old downtown Tuscaloosa, Alabama not far from the campus of the University of Alabama. With hard work and a robust local economy, the company outgrew this location and in 1973 moved into new facilities on Skyland Boulevard just in time to see the whole U.S. economy put in a tempest by the oil embargo.
